Outreach Supports

LIVING AND LEARNING LIFE’S PURPOSE

The Arc of Washington County Outreach Supports program provides a range of drop-in home and community-based supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Team members enhance living and learning through attentiveness to individual strengths, abilities, needs, and fulfillment of personal life goals.

Services offered by the Outreach Supports program include:

  • Personal Supports (Age 21 and older)
  • Individual and Family Support Services
  • Individual Support Services

PERSONAL SUPPORTS

Age 21 and over

Personal Supports are drop-in services provided in your own home, family home, and in the community.  Services may be provided 1:1 or to small groups depending upon the goal of the service and the needs and desires of the person being supported.  Services offered include but are not limited to:

  • Menu planning, food shopping, meal preparation
  • Light housework including laundry
  • Social and Recreational Activities
  • Personal care and assistance with hygiene and grooming

These services are through Waiver Programs offered by The Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) and include:

  • Community Pathways Waiver
  • Community Supports Waiver
  • Family Supports Waiver

INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES

Individual and Family Support services constitute an array of supports coordinated by a caseworker and provided to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

Services include the purchase of adaptive equipment, medical supplies, and arrangement of respite care, and assistance to community resources.   Family Support also offers drop-in services.  Team members assist with skill building in such areas as money management, grocery shopping, cooking, and laundry.  Services can be provided in the person’s home or within their community.

INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT SERVICES

Individual Support services offer flexible, individualized assistance to people who live independently or with family.  Supports include coordination of respite, purchase of adaptive equipment or non-covered medical supplies.

Individuals must apply to The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration for eligibility and funding approval. Individuals with private or other funding sources should contact the program directly.
