Each year, 3 dancing duos come together with a riveting dance competition to support adults and children with intellectual / developmental disabilities. This year’s event with take you around the world, with an international flare!

Ashley & Stephen

Ashley Schweinhart

“Life is hard. It’s not easy, but if you set goals and work hard, you can absolutely do it.” Ashley is a cancer survivor, marine biologist, navy marine mammal trainer, environmentalist, entrepreneur and one of this year’s dancers for our upcoming Dancing With The Stars event!

Even though Ashley grew up dancing, in 2011 she had to relearn to walk following her chemotherapy treatment and full knee and partial femur replacement. She developed her love for climbing while she was rebuilding her strength through rope climbing. In 2019, Tree Trekkers opened to the public as an environmentally friendly way to help families get off the screen and into the green with an outdoor physical activity that’s fun and engaging. Stay tuned for ways to support The Arc by climbing at Tree Trekkers!

Stephen Schutte

The self-proclaimed troublemaker during dance practice, Stephen brings enthusiasm and passion to this year’s Dancing With The Stars. Stephen, raised in Hagerstown, carries this excitement and drive to all of his work in the county. He serves as the President of the Board of Trustees for the Washington County and Western Maryland Library system, Gen-Next Committee Chair for Washington County Chamber of Commerce, and he is always working on different philanthropic endeavors in the county.

Stephen is a proud former dancer at Ballet and All That Jazz. His wife, Brandi, and their two dogs – Fred and Frank – will be cheering him on at Dancing With The Stars on October 9th. Stephen will be dancing with Ashley.

Mia & Sam

Mia-Faire Williams

From behind the scenes to front and center, Mia will be joining us on stage this year during Dancing With The Stars. For the past five years, Mia has generously donated her talent as make-up artist and hair stylist for this event. Mia is a local business owner of the first dry bar in Washington County – Tanique and Blown Dry Bar. She opened the West Coast Tanique in Beverly Hills, serving high profile clients including the LA Rams Cheerleaders. Her husband and three children will be cheering her on during her performance.

Sam Buhrman

Sam is excited to embarrass himself for a good cause on stage during this year’s Dancing With The Stars. Sam and his wife, Brittany, along with their three kids live on a farm in Boonsboro. He is spending his evenings dancing, but during the day you can find him enjoying the outdoors, hiking, hunting, camping, as well as working at Middletown Valley Bank.

Debi & Benito

Debi & Benito Vattelana

You could say their romance was made in the stars, as this dance couple have been married for 40 years! Benito and Debi met while working for the US Air Force and dated only 6 weeks before tying the knot. Together they have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Benito serves as the President of the Board of Directors for The Maryland Theatre in Hagerstown.

Benito is a financial advisor for Edward Jones and Debi is a gemologist at R. Bruce Carson Jewelers. Debi studied for 7 years and had to have 100% accuracy during her training to become a gemologist.
